Mrs. Lauren Keppler

I am honored to work with such a wonderful community at Morton East High School to promote bilingualism and biliteracy for all students. I began my career as a Bilingual and English as a Second Language Teacher, working with students from all language backgrounds and walks of life, and I continue to do that here at Morton East.  In my capacity as Biliteracy Coach I enjoy working with teachers to take advantage of the language and cultural assets that students bring to our classrooms and with students to develop their biliteracy skills. The Seal of Biliteracy program continues to grow with every passing year.  I’m excited to be a part of the growing biliteracy initiatives at JS Morton District 201!

Elizabeth Reyes

I have been at Morton West since 2012 where I was teaching Math in the Freshmen Academy. Morton has been part of my life since growing up in the Cicero/Berwyn area. As a Morton East alum, I know this community and the students it serves. As the Biliteracy Coach, I am excited to work with teachers in a way where we incorporate EL strategies that would challenge our students and help them succeed, build a sense of community in our school that involves student’s cultures, and promote post-secondary success with the Seal of Biliteracy.

My first home in District 201 was at Morton East, teaching ELL English and Bilingual World History. From there I moved to the Freshman Center once it opened, and I currently have the pleasure of working at both the Morton West and the Freshman Center, as well as some visits to MAS.  I have always loved working with parents, coordinating school-wide cultural events, and supporting initiatives focusing on language and culture. In my capacity as Biliteracy Coach, I continue this work with teachers across all disciplines and departments, collaborate with parents in the community, and help students prepare for the Seal of Biliteracy. Morton 201 has students earning the Seal in Arabic, ASL, French, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish, Tagalog, and other languages!
