Multi-Tiered System of Supports

About Multi-Tiered System of Supports

The Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a comprehensive, structured framework designed to ensure that every student receives the academic, behavioral, and life skills support needed to thrive. MTSS emphasizes high-quality instruction paired with appropriate scaffolds and targeted interventions across all school and classroom settings. By using multiple sources of data to monitor progress, the framework helps schools identify students in need of additional support and respond with timely, evidence-based strategies. At J. Sterling Morton High School District 201, MTSS supports student success by addressing academic achievement, life skills development, post-secondary readiness, and overall well-being—ensuring that all students stay on track for graduation and beyond.
