Summer Learning Challenge keeps students engaged

It may be a “hot vax summer” across the country, but for Morton District 201, it’s also a Hot Clue Summer as students are encouraged to participate in the Summer Learning Challenge. The program is an educational scavenger hunt encouraging students to undertake content-specific missions. “Summertime learning loss is a real problem across the world,” said Dr. Timothy Truesdale, Morton 201 Superintendent. “This program is a fun way to help bridge the school years through real-world problem-solving activities.” New missions have been posted weekly throughout the summer, encouraging students to continue solving them in real-time to win various prizes. Solving the puzzles results in points, with 20,000 points translating into different spirit wear T-shirts. The more points students earn, the higher the chance they will win other prizes, such as Yamizel Llamas, who was throwback week’s top scorer and landed an Amazon gift card. Joana Loredo and Aitza Mercado snagged a Visa gift card, and the TikTok culinary challenge winner, Kaitlyn Blita, found herself in possession of an Uber Eats card. Upcoming awards include Nintendo Switches, Apple’s Airpod Pro headphones, Intax cameras, gift cards, LED light strips, and more.
