What is a Homeless Liaison?

J. Sterling Morton High School District is dedicated to assisting students and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Our Homeless Liaison, Mark Rybarski, collaborates with families to guarantee that all students, irrespective of their housing situation, can participate in the full range of programs and activities our school provides. You might be eligible for support if you find yourself in any of the following circumstances:

• In a shelter, motel, vehicle or campground
• On the street
• In an abandoned building, trailer, or other inadequate accommodations, or
• Doubled up with friends or relatives because you cannot find or afford housing

Who are the Morton 201 Parent Liaisons?

District 201 would like to introduce you to the Parent Liaison. Morton East High School, Morton West High School, Morton Freshman Center and Morton Alternative School each has access to the Parent Liaison. The purpose of the Parent Liaison at Morton is to ensure that parents and guardians have access to as much information as possible to enhance their student’s success in high school. With such a large population of students, The Parent Liaison wants to make sure that its parents are getting all the help and support they need.

The Parent Liaison looks forward to communicating with you and it will be a pleasure serving all of you in the upcoming year.

What is the Title I Summer Bridge Program?

Morton Freshman Center and Morton West offers an opportunity for incoming freshmen students to increase their math, reading, and writing skills. While earning high school credit FREE of charge through our Summer Bridge Program. The program helps students in need of extra academic support transition to high school. Students will also get the opportunity to explore art, culinary arts, engineering, and other CTE content during the program. Students will earn a .5 credit for each course taken, Math or English. We recommend students take the full day (Math and English) for one full high school credit. The program has two sessions (June and July). Students choose which session they want to attend. Due to the Title I Grant funding, no Special Education services are available in the Summer Bridge Program. If they think your child will be successful in a classroom without their typical Special Education services, then we would love to have them in the program.

For each session students will receive:

• Their Morton laptops 
• Free Breakfast, snacks and Lunch
• Free Program supplies
• High School Credit
